Quick, Easy and Affordable Home Office Update

When we first bought our house back in 2017, this room was a porch-turned-sunroom. But not one of those pretty sunrooms. Since it was previously a porch, it had textured stucco walls on 50% of the walls, with an old outline of where the door used to be. It had old, stained carpet and mismatched small trim. I tackled the easy things first: skim-coated the walls, painted, installed new carpet and new molding. The result was… fine. It worked as a tiny office but it was awkward and had zero storage.

A few years later we had a custom desk and cabinets made. Best decision ever. My sister and I painted/ stained and installed the cabinets and crown molding, followed by cork flooring (do not recommend the flooring). This held us over for some busy years. But it never really felt finished (or I just started craving some color and pattern after so many years of white!).

To say I’ve had a recent wallpaper obsession is probably an understatement. I would wallpaper about 80% of my house if I could! But nice wallpaper is so expensive. But every so often I find a good deal on resale sites. When I found this wallpaper on eBay, I knew it would be perfect for the office.

At some point I would like to replace the flooring with hardwood flooring for durability and continuity from the main living area, and replace the boob light. But for a few hundred dollars and a few hours of work, I love the transformation.
